At just 17, Kai Trump is beginning to shape an identity that reaches beyond her well-known family name. As the eldest granddaughter of Donald Trump, she has spent much of her life in the public eye, but only recently has she started to emerge with her own voice and ambitions. Born on May 12, 2007, in New York City to Donald Trump Jr. and Vanessa Trump, Kai was named after her maternal grandfather, jazz musician Kai Ewans. Her early life was relatively private, grounded in close family relationships, including time spent with relatives like Barron Trump.
Although she made brief public appearances during the 2016 presidential campaign, Kai gained significant attention during the 2024 Republican National Convention. There, she delivered a heartfelt speech offering a rare glimpse into her grandfather’s personal side, portraying him as a warm and playful “normal grandpa.” Her remarks struck a chord with many, especially as she referenced a recent attempt on his life with genuine emotion.
Outside of politics, Kai is deeply passionate about golf, a sport she shares with her grandfather. Their friendly but competitive matches have become a meaningful part of their bond. Her dedication has already led to notable success, including winning a ladies’ club championship at a Trump golf course in Florida.
Looking ahead, Kai has committed to play collegiate golf at the University of Miami. Despite growing public interest, she maintains a grounded outlook, expressing a desire to live a normal life and let her achievements define her.
